Robert's interview with Studio Cine Live Magazine

Image
New LIFE Still                     Translation Robert Pattinson, always twice (bad French joke because Pattinson in English sounds like the word ring in French… So this joke is like ringing twice) Since twilight, the British man, who received the Hollywood Rising Star award at the Deauville Festival, has not stopped bringing his casual stance in movies by demanding authors. Yesterday, David Cronenberg, now, Anton Corbijn. The teens idol is, in LIFE, the photographer who will reveal the James Dean aura. Interview at the dawn of his second career. Robert Pattinson enjoys some days off in his London apartment before going on set for ‘The Lost City of Z’ under James Gray’s direction, first in Belfast and then in South America. As soon as the questions star, we can feel the actor is not comfortable with interviews. The phone makes the exchange colder. But, as time passes, by this hot summer day, the ice breaks. We discover, under the youn...

Robert, Dane & Anton interview with the Sydney Morning Herald

Image
When the actor James Dean died in a car crash in 1955, the second and defining film in his short career – Nicholas Ray's Rebel Without a Cause – had just come out. Dean was 24. East of Eden had put him on the map earlier that year; Giant was in the works. In retrospect, three films doesn't seem much of a basis for what Dean was about to become: the embodiment of a generation's bohemian disaffection with their parents' post-war world. Fact was, however, they didn't come any cooler than Jimmy Dean. They still don't. You can see that in the clutch of photographs taken of Dean for Life magazine by ambitious young Magnum newcomer Dennis Stock. It was Stock who took the photograph that would grace millions of teenage bedroom walls in the decades to come, a photograph familiar even to people who don't know who Dean was: Dean with his collar turned up against the wind in wintry Times Square. It is that photograph that forms a kind of backdrop for Anton Corbijn...

"Robert Pattinson is searching for challanges" The Twilight-movies made him an idol for millions of swarming fans. But in "Life", which is being shown at the Berlin film festival, Robert Pattinson wants to clarify that he is also an excellent actor.  - I want to do things that challenges me and things I haven't done before, he says, but adds:  - But if something good comes up which is similar to something I've done before I of course accept.  "Life", directed by Anton Corbijn has a Swedish release date this upcomming fall, is about the friendship between James Dean and photographer Dennis Stock. He's the one who took the classic images of Dean with a cigarett in his mouth, taking a walk at Times Square in New York. James Dean is portrayed by Dane DeHaan and Pattison plays Stock.  - Of course I had seen the images he took, but I did not know who he was. Anton gave me a taped interview with him where Stock was extremly rude towards the interviewe...
